The Dagda is an important character in Irish mythology, sometimes believed to be a giant. As the chief of the Tuatha de Danann (a race of gods, goddesses or deities with supernatural powers), he was seen as a king, druid or father figure and referred to as the “great god”. He possessed great skill and wisdom and was believed to be the god of many things including life, death, agriculture, crops, fertility, magic, mysticism, and druidry. The 3 sacred treasures of the Dagda were the cauldron of plenty which never ran empty, a club or mace of Life and Death, and a harp that could control men’s emotions and the seasons.
